Review Policy

Review requests should be sent to me at theliteraryword [at] gmail [dot] com. When doing so, please include the following information:
  • Book Title and Author Name
  • Summary and/or link to further information
  • Preferred date range for publication of review
  • Whether the review post will be part of a blog tour
I will always try to be prompt when responding to e-mails and 99% of the time, I will be happy to review your title and yes, I do accept review requests from independent authors. I am open to any and all genres as I have a very diverse taste and insatiable appetite for books and reading. Subjects that I am extra passionate about include:
  • BDSM/Fetish
  • Spirituality
  • Self-help
  • Positivity
  • Reiki
  • Animals
  • Holocaust/Genocide
  • Military family issues
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Trauma & Recovery
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Domestic Violence
  • Canadian Authors
  • Environmental Issues
  • Cookery & Nutrition
I will not accept e-books for review as I prefer to spend my reading time away from electronics/computer screens. I will also not accept review requests where I am asked to purchase the book. My apologies but this is a labour of love for me and as much as I would love to be able to purchase every book that I am asked to do so, I simply cannot. Thank you for understanding.

I am willing to participate in blog tours, and I am also willing to host giveaways.

What you can expect in a review from me:
  • Book cover image
  • Publisher link (and if applicable, distributor link)
  • Self-written summary (though older reviews still contain summaries taken from covers/publishers)
  • Personal thoughts and opinions about the book plot, and writing style
  • An author's website link if available
  • Reviews are also posted to Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Librarything, and Shelfari for maximum exposure
If the book is a cook book, in my review I will include:
  • Two tried & tested recipes from the book along with pictures of my results
What you will never see in a review from me:
  • Personal attacks on an author
  • Excess negativity
Looking at my blog, you may notice a large amount of positive reviews. This is mainly due to me having such a passion for reading that I am not really that hard to please when it comes to literature. On the rare occasions I do dislike a book, I still review a book kindly and express my belief that just because a book is not my taste, does not necessarily mean it should be avoided as everyone has different tastes.

My mission on this blog is simple: To share what I think of books and encourage the world to pick up books and discover their own passion for reading. I do not receive or accept money for book reviews though I do receive review copies of books at no charge.
